COMMAND CHIEF MASTER SGT. EDWARD WAGNER

Chief Master Sgt. Edward Wagner is currently the Command Chief assigned to the 180th Fighter Wing, Ohio Air National Guard, located at the Toledo Express Airport, Swanton, Ohio. As Security Forces Manager, he helps ensure the squadron is ready to deploy mission-ready warriors and equipment, anywhere in the world. In addition he ensures the protection of personnel and equipment at the 180FW which provides air defense for the Great Lakes region in support of NORAD/NORTHCOM taskings.

 

Chief Master Sgt. Wagner enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1987 and completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. In 1988, Chief Master Sgt. Wagner graduated from Lowry Air Force Base, Colorado and reported to Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, assigned as an imagery specialist with the 1369th Audiovisual Squadron. In 1994, Chief Master Sgt. Wagner joined the 180FW as a personnel specialist and was selected as the Noncommissioned Officer of the year for the 180FW before transferring to the 180FW Security Forces Squadron in the same year.

 

Chief Master Sgt. Wagner has held several leadership roles including Exercise Evaluation Team Chief for numerous Air and Army units throughout the country in preparation for Unit Compliance Inspections, Aerospace Control Alert Missions, Operational Readiness Inspections and Joint Air/Army contingency exercises. Chief Master Sgt. Wagner has also served as an instructor for the Airman Leadership School at the 200th Red Horse Squadron at Camp Perry, in Port Clinton, Ohio. Recently Chief Master Sgt. Wagner developed a test preparation course at the 180FW that has directly helped more than 75 Airmen prepare for and successfully complete the Airmen Leadership end-of-course exams.

 

Chief Master Sgt. Wagner was selected as the Security Forces Manager of the 180FW Security Forces Squadron in 2014. Under his leadership, the 180FW Security Forces Squadron has doubled in size and he has increased the wing’s security infrastructure, in excess of several millions of dollars, by integrating modern technologies and various additional force multipliers in the overall security plan at the 180FW.

 

As a member of the 180FW Security Forces, Chief Master Sgt. Wagner has been an avid force provider for Air Combat Command by supplying fully trained and readied Airmen for Operations Allied Force, Northern Watch, Southern Watch, Noble Eagle, Strong Resolve, Joint Forge, Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom and Freedom’s Sentinel.
