New 180th Vice Commander

Lt. Col Nordhaus

Lt. Col Nordhaus

Aug/Sept 2009 -- Recently, the 180th Fighter Wing announced the selection of Lt. Col. Steve Nordhaus as the next Vice Commander for the unit. Nordhaus, who most recently served as the Wing's Air Sovereignty Alert (ASA) Commander, replaces Colonel Nancy August, who will be retiring from military duty and has accepted the position of Staff Officer with the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) in Arlington, Virginia.

"I would like to take a moment to recognize Col. August and her great achievements as a member of the 180th FW," said Nordhaus. "As a Group Commander and Vice Wing Commander, she touched and helped nearly every one of us with her leadership, mentoring, and people first focus. Col. August, good luck in your new adventure in Washington D.C."

Nordhaus said he looks forward to seeing all unit members and meeting the challenges in his new position.

"As your new Vice Commander, I promise to get out and see you in your work areas, learn your concerns and issues and bring them forward for resolutions," said Nordhaus. "For those of you in the wing who don't know me very well; here is what I believe in. I believe we have the best work force in the entire Air National Guard. I believe every member of our wing is critical to our success. I believe we are all proud of our contributions to our nation's security. I believe hard work, communication, and mutual respect for each other are critical keys to great teams. I believe professionalism, customs and courtesies and our core values are essential to our wing's success. I believe everyone wants to be on a winning team. I believe in 1 Team, 1 Fight. I believe in our ability to meet ANY challenge our nation calls us to meet and I am proud to be on your 180th FW Team. See you in the Wing." Congratulations to both Lt. Col. Nordhaus and Col. August in their new roles.
