Sima Merick, the Assistant Director for the Ohio Emergency Management Agency, talks about the help that the Ohio National Guard is offering with the water emergency going on in Toledo. Available in high definition.

I’m here with the National Guard to come out and look at the water and distribution sites. Ohio emergency management is the coordination point for emergencies in Ohio. One of the things we are doing for this event, the Toledo water event, is we’re taking a look at how the distribution points for water are being coordinated, how well they’re going and the types of people that are coming through, and the frequency that are coming through. I think the coordination locally, the volunteers, the state, how well people are doing it and still doing it very happily, very helpful to the people coming in. People with mobility issues are being helped very easily through the whole process. I think the National Guard is helping out tremendously, they’re on top of it, and they’re moving stuff. I talked to a Soldier earlier who was very excited about that in 20 years this is the first time that he’s been able to help locally. And helping locally and as a citizen of Ohio I think it’s fantastic to see the energy from the Guard.
