Col. Seth Carmody is the Deputy Commander of the 180th Fighter Wing, Ohio Air National Guard, located at Toledo Express Airport, Swanton, Ohio. The 180th Fighter Wing is comprised of the Operations Group (F-16 Block 42), Maintenance Group, Mission Support Group and Medical Group. As Deputy Commander for an Aerospace Expeditionary Force tasked wing, he assists the Wing Commander to ensure it provides for America; to include protection of the homeland, effective combat power and defense support to civil authorities, while developing Airmen, supporting their families and serving in our communities.
Carmody entered the Air National Guard in December 1992 and graduated basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas in Feb.1993. After returning from technical training at Lowery AFB, Colorado., he was assigned to the 180FW weapons load section in the Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. While assigned to the weapons section, he was member of the standardize load crew that trained 15 other load crew on standardized loading operations. In February 2006, he earned his commission through the Air National Guard Academy of Military Science at McGhee-Tyson Air National Guard Base, Tennessee. He went on to attend the Aircraft Maintenance Officer School at Sheppard AFB, Texas. He continued to serve as a maintenance officer in the 180FW Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and Maintenance Squadron. He was then awarded command of the Maintenance Operations Flight in 2014. Prior to his current position, the colonel served as the 180FW Maintenance Squadron Commander.
