Vice Chief of the National Guard Bureau visits 180th Fighter Wing
Col. Bill Giezie, 180th Fighter Wing Mission Support Group Commander, briefs Vice Chief of the National Guard Bureau, Lt. Gen. Joseph Lengyel, on the wing’s continued green initiatives to include one of the largest photovoltaic fields in the Air National Guard. While visiting the Ohio-based Air National Guard unit, Lengyel received an up-close look at the wing’s best programs from green energy, Defense Support to Civil Authorities and the wing’s top performing Aerospace Control Alert mission. Currently, the wing maintains a fully operational 1.6 megawatt photovoltaic field, currently producing over 40 percent of the wings annual electric requirements and is planned to be expanded to 1.9 megawatts.
