A member of the Ohio National Guard’s 52nd Civil Support Team searches an empty classroom March 10, 2016 in an abandoned school in downtown Toledo during a week-long joint training exercise between the Toledo Fire Department, the Ohio National Guard’s 52nd Civil Support Team and the Michigan National Guard’s 51st Civil Support Team. Joint training between civil authorities and the military creates a unified command structure and helps both groups better protect the public by enhancing communication and cooperation during disasters and emergency situations.
